BASTIDE TOWN IN THE HEART OF GASCONY
Valence-sur-Baïse is one of the prettiest Bastide towns in Gascony, with its two popular bar restaurants under the arches
on the main square, a weekly market, twin-towered church and 12th Century Abbaye de Flaran, it's an ideal base for experiencing
French village life, whether you're on a house-hunting, walking or a gastronomy trip.
Valence is a thriving little town with 3 boulangeries, a bank, post office, Mairie and tourist office advertising all the
many activities, exhibitions and village fetes that this area is famous for from April to October.
La Residence is a magnificent old Gascon house of huge proportions with high ceilings and panelled doors, decorated stylishly
with period French furniture and offers flexible accommodation with its 5 double bedrooms and 2 large reception rooms with
sofa beds. There's a large farmhouse kitchen with open fireplace and a Moroccan style courtyard with a private swimming
pool and ample seating outside for a dozen or so. There's also an upper sundeck terrace.

The bedrooms with their 4 metre high ceilings and gracious panelled double doors are all furnished in period French style, with bateaux lits, painted antique cupboards
and wash-stands. The sheets are of finest Egyptian cotton with
classic French quilt covers and all the beds are fitted with electric blankets for chilly evenings, though the rooms
are lofty and spacious enough for cool, restful sleep and siestas even during the fierce summer heat.
The Terrace Suite is our latest addition in French
Colonial style, offering luxurious accommodation for up to 5, with double bed in the main bedroom, a small double in the ante
room and sofa bed in the sitting room. French windows onto private terrace with access to the swimming pool and courtyard
below.
